Abstract

Religious life is at the centre of the Catholic Church. As this issue of Iustitia is dealing mainly with religious life I would like to highlight the esteem and importance Church has ever been attributing to consecrated life. I also indicate how the documents of Vatican Council II and the oriental as well as Latin Codes of Canon law emphasize this fact. Presenting the names of a few reformers like St. Francis of Assisi, it shows how the religious or the consecrated contributed towards the reform not only of religious life but also of the Church in general, towards self-sanctification at the initial stage of its history and gradually towards the sanctification of thers as well.
