Abstract

As an expert of Oriental Canon Law, especially in the field of constitution of the Church and its governance, Chorbishop John d Faris systematically presents the synodal system of governance in the Patriarchal and Major Archiepiscpal Churches and the Council of Hierarachs in the Metropolitan Churches sui iuris, without negelecting at the same time the system of the administration of other Churches sui iuris.

 

Author Biography

John D. Faris, A priest of the Maronite Church of Saint Maron, USA

Chorbishop John D. Faris was ordained a priest of the Maronite Church in 1976. After receiving his doctorate from the Pontifical Oriental Institute in 1980, he served in the Chancery of the Eparchy of Saint Maron and later worked with the Catholic Near East Welfare Association. He is currently the Pastor of Saint Louis Gonzaga Church in Utica, NY and is deeply involved in ecumenical dialogues. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, Chorbishop Faris is Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Canon Law at the Catholic University of America and continues to write on the topics of Eastern Churches and canon law.
