Abstract

It provides the readers with a scholarly journey through the past 20 years since the promulgation of the Eastern Code. As a result, he provides facts and figures of the contributions – in terms of scholars of law, institutions, establishments, decisions, major events like symposia, conferences and seminars and significant works on Eastern Canon Law – that CCEO has facilitated in the growth, development and enhancement of the study and application of canon law in the Church, with a special focus on Eastern Churches.

Author Biography

Pablo Gafaell, “Santa Croce” Pontifical University, Rome

Pablo Gefaell, born in Vigo (Spain) in 1960, was ordained priest in 1989, Prelature of Opus Dei. He optained Licenciate in Medicine (Santiago de Compostela University, Spain, 1983), Doctorate in Latin (“Santa Croce" Pontifical University, 1990) and Oriental Canon Law (PIO, Rome, 2005) and Diploma in "Studio Rotale" (Roman Rota, 1992). From 1996 he has been Professor of Eastern Canon Law at "Santa Croce" and from 1997 External Judge at the Tribunal, Vicariate of Rome. From 2007 he is the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Canon Law at "Santa Croce" and he has also served as guest professor at the PIO, Rome; Institute “San Pio X, Venice and at Catholic University of Lisbon, Portuguese. He is also a member of the advisory board of the International Review "Folia Canonica."
