THE CATHOLIC THEOLOGIAN, THE MAGISTERIUM, AND THE COMMON GOOD

In this study we will try to enlighten some questions about cooperation of the theologian and the Magisterium of the Church. We will try to do it with the help of modern theologians of moral theology and the instruction Donum veritatis. The latter enlightens the vocation as the one able to bring revealed truth that overruns skills of man. This vocation is clearly the true vocation of the Church. From that reason the theologian has to cooperate with the Magisterium of the Church. One of the problems of our times is the lack of authority and with that the lack of faith, too. It is very important to enlighten possibilities on both sides of the relationship between the theologian and the Magisterium. This is the only way for our Eastern Europe to avoid the problems of the Catholic Church in the 1970s and 1980s in Western Europe (where true religious freedom existed when our oriental part was under Communist regime). These problems increased the conflict between some theologians and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. This tension has sowed chaos among believers and has led to inevitable steps by the Church Magisterium towards several prominent theologians.
