Abstract

The history of religions has recorded periodic religious revivalism perhaps more often in Christianity than in other religious traditions. People have wrestled with the meaning and function of religion in their lives and have attempted to transcend the limitations of their belief-systems. Their reinterpretations and reforms are but the dyna- mics of an evolutionary process within each historical religious trad i- tion.
