Abstract

The further back one goes in evolutionary history, the more inseparable and indistinguishable law and religion appear to be. To discover how and why, we have to retrace our steps to the little we know. about the earliest form of religion in the most primitive tribes of which we have record. Aboriginal Australia is a good candidate ever since Emile Durkheim gave it so much publicity in his celebrated ELEMENT ARY FORMS OF THE RELIGIOUS LIFE.
